Controls

Controls is a phrase that can be used for many different products and services. It is one of the most commonly used phrases within the English language and it has multiple different meanings. In general the main meaning of the word is to have control or to direct something. In this sense the word can be used for just about anything where an individual is in charge of something, for example an individual will control a car and if they are a manager in an organisation they will often be described as controlling the organisation. As well as this the word can be used to describe numerous different products.

The word control will most typically be used to describe a remote control or a controller. These are products that are used to direct something on a different product, for example a remote control will be used to direct the channels on a television and a controller will be used on a video games machine. So despite being used for the name of a product the actual function and meaning surrounding the word controls is still present. An individual has the remote control or controller in order to control a specific aspect of something.

The word controls in regards to someone having control of something is a very popular term. When used in this way it indicates that a person has a sense of power or that they have a level of authority. When an individual is described as holding control they will typical be someone who is looked upon by many people as holding power.

The word controls can just about be used for anything where the person is directing something or auctioning something to happen. For example when a person switches on a light, they are using controls to turn on the light. The term is most commonly used in order to describe a remote control or controllers for a games console. Often remote controls will be referred to simply as controls and a person may therefore request the use of the controls.
